Not every brownie is made the same: they can be really fudgy or more cakelike, incredibly sweet, or relatively dark, but there is no question – however the brownie comes, it is incredibly delicious! Today, I’m sharing my most beloved and probably most baked recipe, and I’m so excited for you to try these brownies for the first time. By the way, this recipe comes from the famous classic Hollywood actress, Katherine Hepburn, and there is a good story behind it.
To be honest, normally when people ask about this recipe I say that it’s a secret. The brownies are honestly so impressive that I don’t want to share how simple the recipe actually is! OK, so maybe I’m not so mean in real life, but whether you decide to pass on this recipe or not, the sticky, chewy, delightfully chocolatey brownies, are going to satisfy every chocolate lover!
Katherine Hepburn Brownies Recipe
115g Butter
70g Cocoa
225g sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
35g plain flour
a pinch of salt
125g walnuts (slightly chopped)
- Preheat oven to 170 °C (no fan)
- Slowly melt the butter and cocoa in a pan. Once melted, remove from heat.
- Add sugar and mix until it comes together
- Add the eggs one at a time, and the vanilla extract. Mix until the batter is smooth and glossy
- Mix the flour, salt, and nuts into the chocolate mixture, then pour into a 20 cm x 20 cm tin
- Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the middle is baked. (My oven needs 40 minutes).
Tasty brownies in less than an hour? No problem! They are soo simple, only need one pan, and use normal, everyday ingredients so no need for a special trip to the supermarket – really there’s no excuse not to make these! I hope you enjoy the brownies as much as me, and that your family and friends are equally captivated by them as mine are!
